11/26/2022 0 Comments Perfect dark sea of thieves![]() ![]() Whether it ends up being to your (or anyone's) liking or not is a different matter, its still as 'big' a release as Starfield, God of War, Horizon, Hellblade 2 etc. Mon 7th Mar Most AAA games are a 'Massive' release regardless and by having the 'talent' involved in its development, its 'expected' to be a 'Premium' AAA game - therefore a 'Massive' release.I don't think STALKER 2 will release now in 2022 (understandably) so I don't really 'look' that far ahead as things 'change'įrom my perspective, I am seeing a LOT more 'great' games coming throughout the year - instead of having the 'majority' release from Aug/Sept to Nov/Dec every year and waiting for E3 to get 'news' on the 'next' bunch of great games coming for the next Holiday season. ![]() Still don't know when Hellblade 2 may release as well as numerous other 3rd Party deals/partnerships - like Contraband, Warhammer: Dark Tide etc as well. We still have Deathloop coming to Xbox as well as Redfall, Starfield and probably Forza Motorsport. Of course, if games like Avowed, Fable, Perfect Dark, Everwild, Outer Worlds 2, State of Decay 3 etc are NOT ready for 2022, then it makes sense that they'll be pushed to 2023. Of course these have a LOT of potential, but until we get 'game-play', we don't know if they will live up to, or exceed that potential. Its worked for Forza - which 'normally' was revealed at E3 and release that 'Holiday' season, showing off actual game-play and 'final' visual targets so as not to 'mislead' or miss release dates.Īs much as I am 'looking forward' to games like Perfect Dark, Fable etc, I haven't yet added these to my 'wanted' list because they were announced too early (for game consumers - I know they reveal for 'recruitment' purposes too - like getting Crystal Dynamics in because they 'knew' it would be for Perfect Dark and Playground can recruit for Fable too) and with 'CGI' trailers giving me 'nothing' to be too excited for. All this can be avoided by keeping reveals to within a 'year' of release - by which time, they'll have more 'finalised' game-play to show off, much closer to the 'final' release and be able to be much more 'confident' that the game will release on the date they give. Of course I'd rather not 'know' about new games until they are less than a year away from release - otherwise you seem to be waiting forever, more likely to see 'changes' as they 'optimise' and/or make 'creative' adjustments as the 'whole' game starts to take shape, inevitable delays also 'disappoint'. ![]() I have never played Pillars of Eternity (or whatever the 'franchise' is called) so I'm interested to find out more about Avowed. These are two games I'm looking forward to seeing more on. Speaking of delays, Everwild was also discussed, as Rare's upcoming new IP is expected to be at least two years away. Of course, Grubb adds the caveat that some of these games could be delayed, and by this summer we'll have a much better idea of Xbox's release schedule. Grubb said both games are "probably" aiming for 2023, and he goes on to talk about how many of Microsoft's upcoming games will have had up to five years in development by their project release dates. If so, that's two massive releases in 2023, and right now, we know very little about either game beyond short reveal trailers. Next year's lineup could well include Obsidian's Avowed, and the Perfect Dark reboot. However, on a recent crossover podcast, VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb spoke about what may come from Xbox Game Studios in the coming years. We're not exactly sure when a lot of these games will release, as many are knee-deep in development. Microsoft's upcoming slate for Xbox is absolutely stacked, with a load of launches expected in 2023 and beyond. ![]()
